A Tradition of Support

The tradition of giving at U of M is longstanding. Your donation to Kinesiology helps support the current students and the work of the faculty as we all strive to be the leaders and best in our field. The Advancement staff is able to work with you on several different giving opportunities:

• Outright annual gifts to the Kinesiology Fund
• Planned Giving
• Scholarship Support
• Endowment Giving

Outright annual gifts to the Kinesiology Fund

Online Credit Card Giving. You can make a gift to Kinesiology through U-M's secure, encrypted system. Please make sure to direct your gift to Kinesiology and note if it is for the annual fund or a specific program or endowment.

Credit Card, Check, Cash, Wire Transfer. You can make a cash gift to Kinesiology through any of these four methods.

• By credit card: Call any of Kinesiology's Advancement staff members and they will process your gift over the phone.
• By check: Please make the check payable to the University of Michigan . Please note if it is for the Kinesiology fund or a specific endowed award or scholarship.
• By cash/wire transfer: For information on how to make a cash transfer by wire, call the toll-free Office of Gift Administration Gift Help Line, 1-888-518-7888, 8:00am-5:00pm (Eastern time) Monday through Friday, or email umgift@umich.edu.
• Through Michigan Gift Link: Make a monthly gift from your checking account through this electronic funds transfer option. To initiate Michigan Gift Link, please complete an authorization form http://www.giving.umich.edu/guide/images/giftlink.pdf and mail it with a voided check to:

Securities. You can make a securities gift, which is easy and has important benefits for both you and Kinesiology. For information or to make the gift, you or your broker may call the University's Office of Gift Planning toll free (877) 647-9090 or email umgiftsec@umich.edu.

Matching Gifts. You can increase your gift to Kinesiology with a matching gift from your employer. Please complete the form and forward it, with your gift, to the Advancment office.

Gifts in Kind. Items of personal property or physical assets may be of value as gifts to Kinesiology. Please contact the Advancement office for more information.

Tax Benefits

Your gift may provide you with federal and state income tax benefits:

• If you itemize deductions on your federal income tax return, you may be able to deduct your contribution to U-M from your adjusted gross income. In addition, gifts of appreciated property avoid long-term capital gains tax. Check with your tax advisor for deduction and capital gains tax requirements and limitations for your situation.
• Your state may also allow a credit or deduction. For example, Michigan residents may take a credit against state tax of 50 cents for each dollar of their gift to U-M, with a maximum tax credit of $100 for taxpayers filing singly or $200 on a joint return.
