About
Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) has collaborated with School of Kinesiology leadership to implement the CAPS Embedded model within our school. This model has successfully distributed mental health services across schools and colleges, making it easier for students, faculty, and staff to access services. It has enhanced early intervention and improved outcomes through clinical, consultation, and prevention services. In addition, the CAPS Embedded model has fostered a community-based approach by placing clinicians within the schools and colleges, thereby promoting a more inclusive and supportive environment for mental health.
Our embedded psychologist is Dr. Brett Smith, who completed his PsyD at Eastern Kentucky University. His clinical interests include ADHD, depression, anxiety, performance, trauma, and sleep concerns. Brett is available for individual counseling work with students and consultation with faculty, staff, and students, and will offer occasional educational programs tailored specifically for Kinesiology students.
Brett’s office is located in the Office of Student Affairs in room 2365. To request clinical services from Brett, please email him at [email protected]. Students may also schedule an appointment with Brett through umichcaps.titaniumhwc.com/EMBkines.
