About
Kate Heinze is an associate professor of sport management. Professor Heinze's research focuses on organizational and institutional change in sport. She examines the tactics and processes by which individuals and organizations respond to and lead change in the field, such as around player safety, corporate social responsibility, esport, and NIL. Her research has been published in journals, such as the Journal of Sport Management, Sport Management Review, Journal of Business Ethics, Organization Science, and Organizational Studies.
Professor Heinze is an Associate Editor for European Sport Management Review and on the editorial review board for the Journal of Sport Management. She is a North American Society for Sport Management Research Fellow, and received the Administrative Science Quartely Award for Scholarly Contribution and the American Sociological Association Geertz Prize for Best Article.
Professor Heinze earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in Management and Organizations from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University (with a minor in Sociology), and her B.A. (hons) in Organizational Studies from the University of Michigan.
Kate is a faculty affiliate of the Organizational Studies Program (LSA) and a faculty associate of the Center for Positive Organizations (Ross).
