Abstract: This presentation has two folds. First, it will explore research dedicated to promoting pediatric health and well-being by examining the roles of motor skill development and physical activity in shaping developmental and health outcomes. A central focus will be on findings from CHAMP (the Children’s Health Activity Motor Program), which has shown significant benefits in enhancing children's motor skills, encouraging active behaviors, and improving developmental health. Ongoing research from the Youth Shape Surveillance Study funded by Meta Platforms will also be discussed. Secondly, the presentation will highlight work that supports mentored career and faculty development research and training. These awards include the Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research (MICHR) K12 Mentored Career Development Program and the Michigan Program for Advancing Cultural Transformation (M-PACT), both funded by the National Institutes of Health.
