Abby Lanham
Q: What's the most meaningful or satisfying aspect of your work at SoK?
A: I love it when Elizabeth [Tropiano, senior manager of research administration] or Natalie [Colabianchi, associate dean of research] have a side project idea they let me work on. Especially if they aren't quite sure how to accomplish it, and I get to dig in and figure it out.
Q: What's your favorite thing about the School of Kinesiology and why?
A: I love learning about the different research interests! There is so much variety and all of our faculty are so passionate. Attending their presentations, even if they are a little above my head, is always a highlight of my day.
Q: How do you balance your time between the demands of work and personal life?
A: I have a great support system! My husband is the best in the business. When one of us has a particularly busy week, the other picks up the slack. I also have routines that ground me pretty well so that, no matter what is going on, I have some sense of consistency.
Q: What's one fun or surprising thing about you?
A: I'm pretty artsy! Especially calligraphy. I also scrapbook when I have the time. I am always down for a crafting night.
Q: What's one thing you'd like to brag about (personally or professionally)?
A: With the holiday season coming up, my cheesy potato casserole. I look forward to making it all year; I only make it this time of year so that it's extra special.
