Q: What's one thing about your work at SoK that might surprise people or that people might not know much about?
A: I'm an artist! It's not what most people would assume on first impression! I take part in seasonal art shows around the Ann Arbor/Ypsi area. My favorite mediums are oil, charcoal, graphite and digital. I've been an artist for 5 years now and it's one of my greatest passions! Outside of art I love weightlifting and running races. Currently, I am training for the Detroit International Marathon in October. And finally I am stepping into a long time dream of mentorship for foster care/recovery adolescent males in Ypsilanti.
Q: How do you balance your time between the demands of your work and personal life?
A: Truly I find balance in never allowing myself to become stagnant. I have a lot of things that I take part in that I'm passionate about. However they all can't have an equal level of energy and attention, so I've learned to allow my priorities and routines to shift rather organically. I also make sure to make time for active rest, schedule the occasional lazy day, and have an incredible community of loved ones around me that I do life with.
Q: What's your favorite thing about the School of Kinesiology and why?
A: My favorite thing about the school can be found in the mantra "Challenge the Idle State!" It mirrors my personal philosophy and attitude toward growth, learning, movement, and expansion.
Q: Who are the special people in your life?
A: My family, my church community, and my cat - Luma!
Q: What's one fun or surprising thing about you?
A: I am a huge geek and own a katana from a very popular anime and manga called Demon Slayer. I own a custom lightsaber that was assembled for me, and finally a replica of Thor's Hammer, Mjolnir!
