Q: Out of everything you're working on right now, what are you most excited about?
A: I am most excited about moving into the role of clinical education coordinator at SoK. This role is new to me and has been an invigorating challenge that I didn't realize I needed!
It has been so enjoyable getting to know the people who serve as preceptors for the Athletic Training Program and learning how I can best support them as they educate students in the clinical setting. On the other side, it's also been rewarding to meet with every AT student, learn more about their individual goals, and try to help them navigate the experiences available to them here at U-M.
Q: What's the most meaningful aspect of your work?
A: The most meaningful aspect of my work is definitely the people I get to engage with. The students I interact with in the classroom are incredibly bright and so eager to learn. They truly show up each day ready to think critically about how they can best apply the information they're learning to the real-world setting. It is so great to see when they have that "aha" moment and things click for them.
Q: What's your favorite thing about our school and why?
A: My favorite thing about SoK is absolutely the people who are here. From faculty and staff to students, everyone has been incredibly welcoming and made my transition to this position smooth and as stress-free as possible! I think SoK is a place where people can connect on a smaller scale within a large institution, and it is a place where you can really feel like you belong and are part of something.
Q: Who are the special people in your life?
A: The special people in my life are definitely my family! My husband and I actually met here at U-M as students in the School of Kinesiology. We have been married for 10 years and have three wonderful kids, two boys and one girl. I would truly feel lost without each of them!
Q: If you could go on vacation anywhere, where would it be and why?
A: My husband and I have a dream of going on an African safari someday! I love the idea of experiencing something unlike anything I have ever done, and I feel like a safari would be truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
