Debra (Deb) Demski
Deb is working with Tina Chen on the Concussion Center team and started at SoK in November.
Q: What's the most meaningful or satisfying aspect of your work at SoK?
A: When a patient/participant thanks you for your work/making a difference in their lives.
Q: How do you balance your time between the demands of your work and personal life?
A: Reminding myself that things work best in harmony and that I am more productive when I have balance in my life. I have a task list with all the studies I am working on and tackle by due date/level of importance. I update my list daily and review it every evening to ensure changes are accounted for. Unless absolutely necessary, I have a hard stop at the end of my day to ensure I can get a workout or run in. Stepping away is needed and, in my opinion, allows you to start fresh the next day.
Q: What's your favorite thing about the School of Kinesiology and why?
A: The people. Everyone is truly passionate about their work. They are organized, friendly, and supportive.
Q: If you could go on vacation anywhere, where would it be and why?
A: Up North at Brevoort Lake with my entire family. No phones, no electronics, no TVs... basically no technology. Swimming, water volleyball, fishing, sand dunes, campfires, great food, laughs, pinochle (yes, not euchre), and repeat.
Q: What's one fun or surprising thing about you?
A: I play ice hockey on a women's senior travel team and love it. We are a family and are always there for one another. Great exercise, camaraderie, and a stress reliever! Go SWARM!
My favorite thing about the School of Kinesiology is the people. Everyone is truly passionate about their work. They are organized, friendly, and supportive.
