About
Angela Fong, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in Applied Exercise Science at the University of Michigan School of Kinesiology. She is also a Core Member in the Cancer Control and Population Sciences Program at the Rogel Cancer Center and the Director of the Exercise and Health Behaviors in Oncology Laboratory (EHBOL).
Dr. Fong earned her PhD in Exercise Sciences from the University of Toronto and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in dissemination and implementation science and health promotion at Queen’s University. Her expertise merges applied health psychology, health behavior change, and implementation and dissemination science.
Dr. Fong’s research focuses on improving the long-term quality of life for at-risk cancer survivors by promoting health behaviors. She designs, implements, and evaluates physical activity interventions to create sustainable solutions for reducing disparities in survivorship outcomes. Central to her work is engaging community members and partners to ensure the research is impactful.
In the EHBOL, Dr. Fong and her team are dedicated to advancing cancer survivorship care through innovative research and community collaboration. Recent projects include tailored physical activity interventions to promote strength training among at-risk breast cancer survivors.
Dr. Fong’s work has received funding from esteemed organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Canadian Cancer Society/Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, the Rutgers Cancer Institute Mission Support, and the University of Michigan.
