Center for Inclusive Mobility Environments (CIME)
The Center for Inclusive Mobility Environments (CIME, pronounced “see me”) was founded in 2024 with a primary goal to promote fair and inclusive environments that enhance the lives of older adults who are aging with or into disability. Our research focuses on understanding how social and environmental factors impact mobility, disability, and health.
Our approach emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and impact. By examining the interplay between individuals and their environments, we aim to identify and dismantle barriers to community mobility. Our work is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to navigate their surroundings freely and with dignity.
CIME’s research spans multiple socio-ecological domains and leverages innovative methodologies to explore:
- Environmental and social factors influencing mobility for older adults and people with disabilities;
- Technological and design innovations that can enhance accessibility and participation;
- Policy development and advocacy to support inclusive mobility at local, national, and international levels.
Vision
Build a world where inclusive environments empower older adults and people with disabilities to thrive.
Mission
Leverage diverse data to study environmental impacts on mobility for older adults and people with disabilities, guiding policy to foster societal inclusion and participation.
